8 signs
to watch for — catching them early prevents a cold weekend and a big bill
What you're hearing, smelling, or feeling matters.
Heater blowing cold or lukewarm air. Burning or gas smell. Banging, rattling, or grinding sounds. Short-cycling on and off. Pilot light won't stay lit. Cold rooms in some areas, warm in others. A spike in the gas bill. Carbon monoxide alarm — leave immediately and call 911, then call us.
Some of these are simple fixes (thermostat, ignitor, flame sensor). Others (cracked heat exchanger, gas leak) are safety issues that need addressing today, not next week. Either way, we can help.

How fast can you get to me for heating repair in the SGV?
We handle furnace, heat pump, and gas heating repair across the San Gabriel Valley and will find you the earliest opening on the schedule. Phones are answered 24/7 — service runs during open hours, Mon–Fri 7 AM–6 PM and Sat 9 AM–2 PM.
My furnace won’t turn on — what should I check first?
Before you call: check the thermostat is set to HEAT and the temperature is above current room temp; check that the furnace switch (looks like a light switch near the unit) is ON; check the breaker; and check the air filter isn’t completely clogged. If all of those are fine, call us — common culprits are a failed ignitor, a flame sensor that needs cleaning, or a draft inducer motor.
How much does a typical furnace repair cost?
Most furnace repairs land between $200 and $600 — ignitor, flame sensor, blower motor, gas valve, control board. Larger jobs (heat exchanger crack, full draft inducer replacement) run higher and sometimes tip the math toward replacement on older units. We diagnose and quote flat rate before starting.
Is it safe to keep using a furnace that makes a loud noise?
It depends on the noise. Loud bangs on startup often mean delayed ignition — a real safety concern. Rumbling can mean a cracked heat exchanger (carbon monoxide risk). Grinding is usually a bearing on the blower motor. When in doubt, shut it off and call us. We’ll do a free safety check before recommending the fix.
